I love traveling and I religiously do this annually, I feel like I’ll be sick if I’m not able to travel and explore my home country and other countries, lol. Recently, a week before Holy Week in the Philippines, I decided to visit the summer capital of the Philippines and sharing you my most recent recommended affordable hotel in Baguio.
Baguio DIY Travel
There are so many tour packages you will see online about Baguio, Sagada and other parts of Benguet. However, it is much cheaper and honestly, it’s very easy to DIY your trip to Baguio even if you are with young children like I do.
It was supposedly 10 days travel until it became 5 days travel instead. Going to Baguio via commute is cheap compare if you will bring your car unless you are traveling with a large group of people then you can maximize your gas and toll contributions but if you are traveling less than 4 pax then might as well commute because it’s cheaper.
I decided to book 2 different hotel so it’s much easier for us to go around Baguio City and it’s nearby town like La Trinidad.
1. Hotel Supreme
I was able to book this hotel with a discount of 500 Pesos via Traveloka (FYI, this is not sponsored). Original price per night of their Standaard Room with Breakfast is 2,000 Pesos but I used my PAYMAYA discount code, I only paid 1,500 Pesos per night.
The best part of this hotel:
– 5 minutes walk to Bell Church
– 7 minutes walk to the Valley of Colors in La Trinidad, Baguio
– 7 minute drive to Tam Awan
– 15 minutes drive to Bencab Museum
– Huge plated breakfast serving
– Affordable meals available in their in-house restaurant
Currently, the Supreme Hotel has 2 building adjacent to each other. But what I was able to book was in their old building so when we first entered the lobby, it was pretty old, a bit dark and the carpet on their stairs to our room is really old and filthy.
I requested a twin room, inside our room has a 32 inch LED TV, coffee table and chairs, en-suite bathroom with complete toiletries. Rooms do not have air conditioning unit since it’s always cold in Baguio even on summer days, so we have 1 small box electric fan in our room.
Plated breakfast is surprisingly good and huge serving comes with a FREE coffee or hot choco and fruit juice.
Note: There’s no elevator in this hotel
2. Lefern Hotel Military Cut-off
On our second hotel, I found in Traveloka this newly built hotel along Military cut-off in Baguio City proper. It’s about 5 to 7 minutes walk to Victory Liner Baguio, 2 minutes walk to Panagbenga Park.
Published rate per night is 2,500 Pesos with FREE breakfast for two pax but I used again my PAYMAYA code and I only got this for 1,500 Pesos per night.
I purposely booked this hotel because:
– it’s close to the bus station, SM City Baguio, Parks, and other tourist spots like Session Road and churches.
– new hotel
I booked a twin room for 1,500 Pesos per night. Our room is a bit spacious, clean and you can see that the hotel is really new. We have an en-suite bathroom, complete with toiletries, slippers are for request (but free of charge), 32 inches LED TV and cabinet. No a/c on this hotel also.
Again, this hotel has a FREE breakfast for two and their serving is huge (well, for me it was).
Note: There’s no elevator in this hotel
3. Mines View Park Hotel
A few years back I was invited by this hotel to review and tour around Baguio. Tho it was sponsored I really loved this hotel, a bit old (per se) but the amenities, the rooms, the restaurant and mind you, the hotel has elevator compare to the first two hotel – Hotel Supreme and Lefern Hotel have no lift.
I also love our view from our room here and our bathroom is pretty huge, tho outdated but still has a hot shower, our bed has a comforter and the room smells nice and clean. Plus. they have a view deck and gym.
Room per night is 4,000 Pesos with Free Breakfast for 4 pax. This is one of the best and affordable hotel I could recommend for a group of 4 pax. The hotel is walking distance to the MIne View Park and Good Shepherd.
Their in-house restaurant is offering a unique dish called Pork Strawberry Sinigang and Adobo Strawberry.
